Attend the Georgia State Summer Theatre in Georgia

The Sawyer Theater gets ready for 2009. Every year, the Sawyer Theater at Valdosta University in Valdosta, Georgia hosts Georgia’s premier summer stock play productions, The Peach State Summer Theater. Legions of actors, technicians and set producers arrive at Valdosta and build, prepare, rehearse and produce some of the best musicals that have ever been heard.

Residents of Valdosta and throughout Georgia flock to this theater summer after summer because of the excellent theatrics of the performances. Its popularity in Georgia got such a reputation for promoting Georgia tourism, that the Georgia State Legislature designated the Peach State Summer Theater the official musical theater of the State of Georgia.

Each summer will prove to be no exception as the Peach State Summer Theater reherses to produce three hit musicals at the Sawyer Theater. Highlighted on this year’s playbill starting June 5th and presented on a rotating basis are Big River, Once on this Island and Mel Brook’s The Producers. All three of these shows had huge audiences on Broadway and resounding accolades and awards. This year will prove to be a rewarding to present these three excellent musicals with an excellent production quality.

Tickets are bound to sell out early, so to acquire tickets or for more information call the box office at (229) 250-2700. It is located at the Sawyer Theater on VSU’s campus. Its hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Get ready for another exciting summer production!   The theatre is part of the Plantation Trace Georgia vacation region.
